Huawei showcases a 7.2Tbps near-package optics module for AI infrastructure

Huawei has showcased what it calls the industry’s first 7.2-terabit-per-second near-package optics (NPO) module for AI infrastructure. The module combines 36 channels operating at 200 gigabits per second each. Near-package optics places optical components closer to switching chips, reducing signal loss and power consumption as AI clusters connect more processors.
