FirstRand exits the UK market

In a major strategic shift, South African banking giant FirstRand is officially preparing to exit the United Kingdom to refocus its capital and management resources on its home market and the broader African continent. As detailed in the bank’s audited annual results for the year ended 30 June 2026, the entire Aldermore Group , which includes Aldermore Bank and MotoNovo Finance, has been classified as a discontinued operation and a disposal group held for sale under IFRS 5 accounting rules.
