“Recruitment is the path to attack”... Fake IT personnel exploiting AI spreads as an internal threat to companies

The problem of hiring fake IT talent has become increasingly serious in recent years, but not many companies are willing to publicly acknowledge it. From Fortune 500 companies to small and medium-sized organizations, remote hiring practices are being abused, leading to cases where trust-based access is granted to people other than their actual identities, which can lead to insider threats. Estimates suggest that there are thousands of fake IT personnel operating across the United States, who are in a position to carry out a variety of threatening activities, including stealing information, intellectual property (IP) and data, as well as outsourcing work overseas, disrupting systems, and funneling funds to foreign governments.
