African startups hit $2.10 billion in 8 months

Between January and August 2026, African startups raised $2.10 billion across 275 tracked funding deals, slightly edging out the $2.07 billion raised during the same eight-month period in 2025. Out of these 275 transactions, 255 deals disclosed their figures, while 20 startups kept their funding amounts private. Compared to the $2.07 billion raised across the same eight-month period in 2025, overall funding in 2026 remained virtually flat with a slight 1.4% year-on-year increase.
