The Directorate General of GST Intelligence wants payment systems to record the website that directs a user to make a payment, along with the bank accounts linked to the GST registration associated with that website. A 14-month DGGI investigation identified an estimated Rs 70,000 crore betting ecosystem using intermediary merchant companies to receive and route funds. A user places a bet on a gaming site.
