LibreOffice 26.8 Launches With Writer Paragraph Composer and No AI Features

The Document Foundation has issued LibreOffice 26.8 for Windows , macOS, and Linux , including all the components of the suite. This update, which came out on August 26, 2026, does not include any generative AI features, a stance that the foundation describes as "a deliberate position," not an accident. When documents are processed, they are not sent to any remote service, and none of the components require network access in order to function.
