After WhatsApp, government notice to Telegram and Signal also, increased strictness on Username feature!

A day after raising questions on the proposed Username feature of WhatsApp, the Central Government has now issued a notice to Telegram and Signal as well. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has sought information from both the messaging platforms about the security measures related to their Username feature. The government wants to know what arrangements these companies are making to prevent fraud, identity theft and other cyber crimes.
