Kenyan Court Orders Nokia to Pay Ex-Manager Sh9.8 Million Over Unlawful Redundancy

Kenya’s Employment and Labour Relations Court has strongly criticised the way some companies handle layoffs. The court ruled that Nokia Solutions and Networks Kenya wrongly dismissed a senior account manager and ordered them to pay him Sh9.8 million. The court found that the company’s reasons for restructuring did not hold up under examination.
