OpenAI’s new ‘Jalapeno’ chip is the company’s first step towards the future

TL;DR OpenAI has unveiled its new AI chip, developed in partnership with Broadcom. It’s called “Jalapeno” and the company says it offers better performance-per-watt than current state-of-the-art chips. OpenAI is aiming to deploy Jalapeno by the end of 2026.
