Open AI steps forward to strengthen open source security... ‘Patch the Planet’ project launched

OpenAI has teamed up with cybersecurity company Trail of Bits to launch an AI-based program to find and fix vulnerabilities in widely used open source software. This is a measure to respond to the increasing security risks faced by companies due to defects deep in the software supply chain. Named ‘Patch the Planet,’ the project combines AI-based vulnerability research with human expert review to identify security issues and develop them into verified patches that can be distributed through the public process of existing projects.
