OpenAI Considers Raising More Capital to Meet AI Demand

OpenAI may raise more capital, Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar said Friday (May 15), about six weeks after the company closed a funding round in which it raised $122 billion. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Friar said OpenAI may do so because of the need for compute. She said the company is seeing “a vertical wall of demand,” but there is “not a lot of compute in 2026,” so the company is looking into how to get the compute it will need.
