Mistral’s Mensch warns Europe of ‘leftovers’ if it quits frontier AI

Mistral’s chief executive, Arthur Mensch, has warned that Europe will get “leftovers” if it stops building frontier AI models. Apps built on American or Chinese models would also give Europe a “big trade balance problem”, he said on 20 October.
