Scaling Git for agentic software engineering

In a recent engineering blog post , Anthropic described how agentic coding pushed its source control past what Git was designed for: Merges to its monorepo grew from around 2,500 a day in May to more than 30,000 a day by September. Its team built an in-house system, Scion, around the assumption that nearly all clients are agents that are always online. Anthropic is clear that Scion isn't meant to be a replacement for Git and has not been designed with Git compatibility in mind.
