Flutterwave’s GB Agboola gains global recognition as African fintechs head for IPOs

In the space of nine days, Olugbenga “GB” Agboola has been named one of the world’s top fintech leaders and given a seat on a Silicon Valley advisory council led by the chiefs of OpenAI, Nvidia, Microsoft and AMD. The two announcements say something about where Africa’s best-known fintech founder now sits in the global industry, and about the gap that recognition cannot close on its own. On 30 September, FinTech Magazine published its Top 100 Fintech Leaders for 2026.
