Push for Mandatory AI Safety Rules Gains Momentum in Washington

Maria Cantwell of Washington, the ranking member on the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, unveiled a framework Wednesday (Oct. 7) for regulating frontier artificial intelligence in a possible preview of a federal regulatory push should Democrats take control of Congress in November. The framework features six principles for regulating frontier AI development and deployment.
