Ghana is putting AI purchases under central review as Nigeria still treats them as IT projects

Ghana has announced that every artificial intelligence system acquired by a public institution will go through a centralised technical review. The announcement, reported on 2 October, came from Samuel Nartey George , the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, at an AI forum in Accra co-hosted with the US Embassy. Each system will be assessed against benchmarks for interoperability, data protection, cybersecurity, sustainability and mandatory local skills transfer.
