AMD to Acquire World Labs for $8.2 Billion in AI Expansion

AMD is acquiring AI startup World Labs in an $8.2 billion all-stock deal, giving the chipmaker access to technology designed to help artificial intelligence understand and simulate the physical world. Announced Monday, the acquisition expands AMD’s strategy beyond supplying the hardware that powers AI systems. It brings World Labs’ spatial intelligence research into AMD as the industry moves toward AI models that can reason about three-dimensional environments, objects and actions.
