What the DPDP rules changed for disabled users, and what they left unchanged

Section 9 of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 , as enacted with enforcement pending, required a guardian’s consent before a company could process the personal data of a person with a disability who has a lawful guardian. It did not ask whether that person could make the decision themselves. A new report on mainstream gadgets used as assistive technology returns to that provision.
