Banks Call for Audit Trail From AI Shopping Instructions to Payment Outcome

A group of six banks is calling for artificial intelligence shopping transactions to carry an auditable record of what a customer asked an agent to do, what authority the customer granted, and what happened before and after payment. The proposal addresses the issue of whether an agent bought what its customer actually intended. It’s a problem that a routine payment authorization may not resolve.
