Google rolls out AI contribution Pilot to compensate publishers appearing in AI responses

Google has rolled out a pay-per-value AI licensing pilot that pays publishers when content meaningfully shapes AI responses. According to industry sources who spoke to Digiday , Google has approached dozens of publishers for its ‘AI Contribution Pilot ’. The programme covers Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode , and extends beyond news organisations.
