Zee News fined Rs 2 Lakh over AMU protest coverage, ordered to remove content

India’s broadcast self-regulator has penalised Zee News for its coverage of a student protest at Aligarh Muslim University, determining that the channel misrepresented footage to present a communal narrative . The order The News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA), chaired by former Supreme Court judge Justice A.K. Sikri, fined Zee News Rs 2 lakh on September 11 for its coverage of an August 2025 protest at AMU.
